Kaogle mask Wobe people, Ivory Coast 13 inches, articulated jaw, wood, kaolin pigment, monkey fur A large, imposing mask, there are about 20 holes around the back into which a raffia skirt would have been attached. The patina is handsome and it appears to be old. I think Wobe, but it could be Dan or We. The jaw is meant to move up and down. However, one of the carved hinges on the back of the jaw is broken off and missing. I have tied it with wire which is fine if you just want to display the mask. You could repair this minor flaw if you want the jaw to articulate. The last photo shows the jaw with the hinge on the left missing. sold
