This is an especially well carved example of an authentic Dan mask from the Boris Mirski Gallery in Boston. Before that, it was part of the George Harley collection. Probably collected in the early 1950’s by the famous missionary. Mr. Mirski priced it at $800 thirty years ago. Elegant and in almost new condition, it is not the kind of Dan you see anymore. Note that the finish is dull, with none of the glossy patina common to the genre.
