Yocouba mask Kran people, Ivory Coast 11 inches, stained wood This is Masque Yocouba from the village of Beninque near the town of Danane, South of the Man Mountains. Used by the Kran people of Cote d’ Ivoire. It is brought out during many celebrations. The Yocouba is known as a very skilled dancer and is usually the center of attention. The mask is in very good condition save for some holes and staining in the cloth head covering. The Kran are sometimes referred to as We, but this may not be completely accurate. Much of the area is often simply described as Dan.
