Biombo people, Congo 13 inches, stained wood A helmet mask that fits over the head, it depicts a female character that appears along with others at initiation ceremonies, circumcision rights, and funerals. Very similar to some of the great classic Kuba helmet masks. This beautiful item has been carved out of one solid piece of wood and very carefully detailed. It was made for the collector market and is in perfect condition. The grass skirt is not original, but can be included for an extra $35. The mask is pictured in the catalog Masks From Around the World, Lancaster Museum of Art, 2002.
