Carved wood masks are becoming hard to find in modern Nicaragua. Today papier mache is much more common. This one is new, well carved and painted, and intended for use in a village celebration. Note the hole through which a cigar or cigarette can be smoked.

I am listing this particular mask under Caribbean and Mexico. Though it is definitely Nicaraguan, some areas of that country were populated by ethnic, Nahua-speaking Mexicans. This is in the Mexican style. New and in perfect condition.
