Machos mask Diriamba, Nicaragua 11 inches, painted wood The Machos, or mule mask, is used in the Gueguense performance which is part of the festival of St. Sebastian. UNESCO has designated this festival as a Historic Masterpiece. The people in the Carazo Province of Nicaragua are Nahua, which may explain why the style looks Mexican. It was purchased about 10 years ago and is in perfect, new condition. Note how carefully it has been carved and painted. SOLD
