Vaquero Mask Guatemala 7.5 inches, painted wood In the dance of the Vaqueros, a group of cowboys engages in a comic roundup of the bulls. These masks can also be used in the Dance of the Conquest for portraying Spaniards. This mask is very nicely carved and it appears to have considerable wear. The glass eyes have been lost, although the wax remains that held the eyes in place. The edge of the right ear shows slight damage from an old infestation of boring insects and there is a stable split on the back of the forehead. Nevertheless, this is a very nice older mask. SOLD
