Rastrador Mask State of Guerrero 7inches, painted wood w painted features The Rastrador is a character in the Tecuanes dance, which is a variant of the Tigre or jaguar dance. A group of peasant farmers, depicted as negritos (African- Americans) pursue a marauding jaguar, led by the Rastrador- tracker and his dog (a dancer wearing a dog mask). Tecuanes refers to wild animals in general, including the jaguar and other animals of the forest or jungle, such as badgers, anteaters, etc. One recognizes the Rastrador by his twisted mouth. A nice old mask, the red paint around the mouth is quite worn, while the face and back are well worn from use. The face is carved with many lines, to indicate that the character is an old man, or Viejo. sold
