Old Moor Mask State of Veracruz 9 inches, painted wood with iron teeth This mask is old and heavily used in the Dance of the Moros y Christianos. The carving is vivid and amusing. Look at those monumental sideburns, for example, or the carved brows and the mustache. In addition, there are little steel teeth, attached with a carefully cut scrap of galvanized tin. This is a wonderful old mask! There is a chipped off region on the right cheek, just under the sideburn. There are marks of a mild insect infestation in the past, apparently long ago burned out. The paint on the face is wearing off from so much use. Due to these features, the price is moderate for such a powerhouse. sold
