Valencia, Spain 8.5 inches, painted papier mache, hemp Valencia is famous for Las Fallas, the big spring festival where many participants wear masks in which to celebrate. The end of festivities is a pyromaniac’s dream where most of the masks, figures and other decorations are burned. This very sturdy, handmade mask escaped the bonfires. Perhaps the blue facepaint is a reference to the peninsula’s barbaric past.
