Minneapolis, MN 8 inches, papier mache Ringatti was the name of a papier mache mask-maker and peddler who sold his wares around Minneapolis. The person I bought the mask from said "I would just run into him on a corner or at a festival... I was fascinated by the under-recognized artist, I guess, so I would make an effort to talk to him. The last time I saw Ringatti, his face was very wrinkled and his hair was longer and thinner than I’d ever seen it. Rather than the maroon tuxedo he usually wore, he was wearing now a long, weathered black coat. We talked about what it was like getting old, and and at the end of our conversation, as he was closing shop, he gave me a big laundry bag of all the masks he had never been able to sell, saying that he wouldn’t need them anymore. I have not seen Ringatti since this last meeting, and am assuming that he died." $145
