Bear mask Japan 7.5 inches long, starched muslin pressed over a mold Made in Japan for the US market, these cheap little Halloween masks sold for a dime in the early 1950’s. They were made in the US and Europe for many years before that. Most children wore these cheap masks, that is, if they didn’t use a 5-cent eye mask or burnt cork (free). Very light and flimsy, they wouldn't last for many Halloweens. The mask is pictured in the catalog Masks From Around the World, Lancaster Museum of Art, 2002.
