Nepal Monkey mask Terai region, Southern Nepal 17 inches, painted wood Probably represents a monkey. I don’t believe this mask is used or very old, but it is an excellent carving with great esthetic appeal and rather thin walls. Folk art items from the Terai are seldom sculpted this gracefully. Some cracks occurred when the carving dried, which you can see in the photos.
