The papier mache tradition in Mexico goes back over 100 years. It is not something that recently developed due to a shortage of wood. This particular example has some age. There are some repairs and the four gold teeth appear to be a later addition. Condition is good and sturdy. I think it is a mask made for children, rather than a decorative.
