Unknown 10.7 inches, painted wood The Pueblo/Hidalgo/Veracruz area produces lots of animal masks for Carnaval and this could be one of them. I think it’s supposed to be a fox or jackal. Locality and species of animal are guesses, but we can certainly tell it comes from the country of Mexico. The wood is medium and hardness and weight. Thin, water-based paint. Not used, but showing some age. A bit naive and crude in way that is close to cartoonish. Having said all of this, I'm am not even sure it is Mexican.
