Mayo people, Sinaloa 9 inches, painted wood, deer skin, paper flower The Judio, or Chapkobam mask, is used roving dancers who collect alms from villagers during Holy Week. The dancers usually make these masks for themselves and are often charmingly crude. This one is also rare. It is an old man rather than the more common animal mask, and it comes complete with a fine deer skin hood with a paper flower attached.
