Yaqui people, Sonora 8 inches long, painted wood, hair Crisencio Molina Maldonado is emerging as the best pascola mask carver in Northern Mexico. Highly creative, he is aware of the collector market but stays true to his traditional carving roots taught to him by his family. More and more pascolas are wearing his masks at fiestas these days. The eyebrows and beards on the mask are created by carefully inserting goat hair into tiny holes. The Yaqui cut the eyebrow hair short, while the Mayo prefer to leave it long and flowing.
