Xochiatipan, Hidalgo 7.2 inches, painted wood Well carved with raised surfaces for the details, this is a wonderful example of an older Mexican mask with personality. Excellent patina from years of usage. Purchased in the 1980’s by a museum curator for his personal collection. A Mexican mask specialist I know says it looks more like a Matachine from Vera Cruz.
