Puebla or Oaxaca, Mexico 7 inches, painted papier mache, metal edge She looks like she’s from the Puebla or Oaxaca area-- perhaps the Queen in the Jadineros Dance. However, the mask is made of a thin but strong papier mache rather than bee’s wax and cloth. A tin edge was applied for even more strength. I believe it is old and has been used for a good many years. The fresh repaint was probably done by its last dancer. The back is shown in a larger size because it reveals both the age and unique construction of this rare mask. Does anyone know what SP.7 means? $295
