Queen mask Los Jardineros Dance, San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca 7.5 inches, bee’s wax, cloth Los Jardineros is a popular dance drama performed in the central valley of Oaxaca. The main characters are the king and queen and their respective entourages. Elaborate crowns, wigs and costumes are worn. The masks are made of cloth impregnated with bee’s wax and molded over a form. This unique construction is used nowhere else in Mexico and gives the appearance of real human skin.
