This classic Tejorone with its nice patina is unusually small, even though these mask are almost always smaller than a normal face. The idea is to make the dancer look gigantic with a little head and big body. A scarf is wrapped around parts of the head and face that would otherwise be exposed. The Tejorones Dance is popular with the Mixtec people near the Western coast of Oaxaca. Used.
