This wonderful shaman mask helps to keep alive the old ways, the old life of skin tents and snow houses, the nomadic life when seasonal hunting dictated lifestyle and survival. For almost 50 years women from the village of Simon Paneak have been making these . Located in the far North of Alaska, the village’s inhabitants and those in the surrounding coastal area are know as Inland Nunamuits. The mask is handmade entirely of natural products, mostly from the caribou.
