Northern Sepik River area, PNG 8.5 inches, wood, shells, seeds, feathers, fiber This representation of a human skull is carved out of a solid piece of wood. It was collected in the Asmat area during the 1970’s. No longer are the heads of enemy warriors taken as trophies. The condition is very good with all of the attachments in place. It is solid wood and not a mask to be worn, which is true many other mask-like artifacts from New Guinea. $275
