7 inches, papier mache, paint

A 50 to 60 years old Japanese handmade, handpainted Kyogen Kagura theater mask. This comic character has been used many times. There are some nicks and scuffs, but the papier mache is very strong and covered with gofun- an oyster shell base paste. The mouth piece is very nicely carved from wood which the wearer bites down on. This is an authentic, used piece, not something made for the the market. Almost new condition.
